Lilith Rockett

“I was able to learn from many different masters and feel certain that all that I absorbed there influences my work in ways that may not be detectable from the outside, but are clear to me in how I imagine the possibilities that exist.”

There’s a beguiling visual delicacy to the work of Portland-based potter Lilith Rockett. Her vessels and tableware appear as if shaped not so much by labor, as by a gesture. Self-taught, she has in recent years studied ancient earthenware techniques in South Korea and porcelain at its source in Jingdezhen, China. “I was able to learn from many different masters and feel certain that all that I absorbed there influences my work in ways that may not be detectable from the outside, but are clear to me in how I imagine the possibilities that exist.”
